Why Join This Group

Whether you are diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, or highly suspect that you struggle with it, and want to learn more, this group is for you!

Living with ADHD can sometimes feel overwhelming or isolating. This group offers a safe, supportive space to connect with others who share similar experiences, reduce stress, and learn research-informed strategies for thriving. By joining, participants gain both personal insights and a sense of community that can make lasting positive change.

Why is this group Unique

This group goes beyond teaching strategies by using a process-based approach rooted in memory reconsolidation and predictive processing research. Participants are guided to explore and reshape past experiences of stress, shame, and overwhelm, allowing them to rewrite personal stories into ones that are more supportive, sustainable, and strengths based. By integrating new learning at a deeper level, this approach enhances stress regulation, builds resilience and coping, and fosters mental health and wellbeing, leading to more lasting benefits than learning strategies alone.

This group takes a holistic approach to ADHD. Instead of focusing only on behaviors, it understands ADHD as a difference in how the brain manages focus, emotions, motivation, and learning. It looks at ADHD not just as symptoms, but as a unique wiring that comes with both strengths and challenges.

The program explores three key areas that affect wellbeing for people with ADHD:

  • Managing stress and emotions

  • Understanding relationships (with self and others)

  • Supporting learning and executive function

By connecting these layers, participants can see how challenges in one area may affect another.  For example, if someone struggles in learning or executive function, the group explores whether underlying stress or relationship concerns need attention first. This approach is neurosequential and trauma-informed—meaning it recognizes the sequence in which the brain develops and the impact of stress or trauma on ADHD symptoms and functioning. The group uses a trauma and research informed framework that respects each person’s experiences and growth.

Most importantly, it offers a supportive space that celebrates the creativity, insight, and resilience of adults with ADHD—while teaching practical tools to help them thrive in daily life.

Common Questions about

ADHD Skills Group

Typically, groups consist of about 6-10 members and two trained therapists who guide the sessions. Sessions often start with introductions, followed by theme-based discussions related to ADHD challenges and coping strategies. The group may include grounding or mindfulness exercises, sharing personal experiences, skills-building, and reflection. Sessions will last 90 minutes and occur weekly for the duration of the group.

Sharing is welcomed and  encouraged but not mandatory. Group members may contribute as much or as little as they feel comfortable with. Listening and observing are also valid forms of participation. The group provides a safe space where individuals can express themselves when ready without pressure. You are welcome to share as little or as much you feel comfortable.

Given that a lot is covered in each session, for continuity we encourage everyone to try and attend all sessions; but of course, we know life happens and attending all sessions might not be possible.  Consistent attendance is recommended to gain maximum benefit and maintain group cohesion, and the group content is carefully designed to build off previous sessions, but occasional unexpected absences are acceptable. Missing sessions means missing out on shared learning and support.

Participation in evaluation will involve providing feedback on the group process you’re your learning outcomes through a survey. It can include sharing personal progress, what strategies worked for you, and suggestions for improvement. The evaluation is a confidential and anonymous way to help the group facilitators optimize the group experience and continue to develop the group content and structure.

Payments can be made in full before the start of the group, or per week. RCC receipts will be provided per session. If a payment plan is required this can be discussed during sign up/intake process.
