(She/Hers)

About Forooz, (RCC, CCC, MCP-AT)

Forooz is a dedicated clinical counsellor and art therapist MCP-AT, who is very passionate about fostering mental and emotional well-being. She is double certified as a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (RCC & CCC). She is also a  registered CVAP provider.

Besides traditional talk therapy, Forooz supportively guides individuals to tap into their innate creative self by integrating other modalities such as art therapy and a Mindfulness- based approach, thus allowing one to explore their inner world (thoughts, feelings, body sensations) along with their experience of their external world in a safe, non-verbal manner. She is passionate about working with children/youth/families and adults in-person and online.  She provides services in English and Farsi.

“Having lived, worked, and studied in Iran and Canada, overcoming many obstacles such as surviving the war, immigration, adjusting to new worlds as a mother, facing discrimination and much more; I have experienced first hand the healing power of turning inwards through mindfulness practices. I believe in the transformative power of expressive art and the deep healing it can provide, one that I hope to share and bring to others grappling with life’s challenges.”

With 22 years of immersive practice in yoga, mindfulness and spiritual exploration, and as an advanced yoga instructor, I incorporate a holistic approach to counselling, one that incorporates all aspects of the self (mind, body and spirit). Our bodies can hold on to trauma, stress and heavy emotions, which left unprocessed can show up as anxiety, chronic pain or mood symptoms. By incorporating trauma informed somatic/body movement (when appropriate) I support clients bring in a deeper level of awareness to their body in a safe/supportive manner and gain a deeper level of insight and skills to managing their emotions; thus, enabling one to regulate their nervous system more effectively.

As a therapist it would be my privilege to support you on a journey to self-acceptance, healing and resilience while navigating life’s challenges. I employ a confidential and highly ethical frame of work, providing a safe space where everyone is welcome.
