I am the founder and Clinical Director of EKC. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with 14 years of experience in providing counselling for children, youth, adults and families. Trained and experienced in crisis and suicide assessment, prevention and stabilization. Extensive experience in assessment and treatment of mental health issues including, but not limited to depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and trauma.
I believe individuals/adults have the intuitive answer to the issue(s) at hand, but at times the noise and chaos caused by the stressors of life can suffocate this intuition, making it into nothing but a faint whisper. As a counsellor it is my role to help you quiet the surrounding noise, allowing you to see/hear and tune into your innate intuition. My approach is client-centered, non-judgemental, and compassionate, with the aim to make you feel supported in dealing with life’s challenges, while gaining new skills, understanding and view of things. I am curious to learn from, and grow with my clients.
Having moved to Canada as a youth I know first hand the stress that acculturation and culture shock can put on a person and their family; thus I takes a multicultural lens and approach to counselling. Services are confidential and provided in both English and Farsi.
Over the years having worked with organizations such as Child and Youth Mental Health, Child and Youth Crisis Program, Crisis Lines, Early Psychosis Intervention Program as well as with acute inpatient and outpatient psychiatric teams, has provided me with an in depth knowledge and experience within this field.
